National RX-5350 Selector switch is here. It has three positions line in-radio-tape.
Please take a look at the pair of long contacts to the left of the "selector switch"
Seems like the should not be connected, but when I connect them the bbx works...
Please, in what position of the "selector switch" this pair of contacts should be connected?

Thank you, Superduper. Does your 5350 have the same plastic cube on the end of the right contact? Is in the same position? My switch try to connect them only in up (line) position, but it cant do it as it has plastic between contacts.

Yes it is supposed to be there. This power switch appears to be a very common problematic component on the RX-5350's. If you ever seen leaf switches (for power switches, not cassette microswitches) in action, you'll see that on many of them, there is supposed to be a snapping action on application. So the block is probably there to shorten the length of the switich leaf effecting a more sudden application toward the end of the throw. Over time, either the tension of the leaf changes or metal fatigue, or plastic fatigue causes the switch to no longer behave like original.

That switch is no longer available but I am sure some creative aftermarket solution can be fabricated to perform the same function.

I know the power switch on my RX-5350 was totally junk. :-/
I had member Prime fix it for me and he retrofitted an aftermarket switch on to it like Norm said, and it worked perfectly.
