I am very excited to have reunited with my 80's Mixtape/Cassette collection. I've been listening to these tapes all week to sort out what is what....Some of these tapes haven't been played in 25 years.

So Far I've Found...
Dj Red Alert 1985 Saturday night (98 Kiss FM New York)
Latin Rascals 1984 ??? 1985 Tape Splice Mix (98 Kiss FM New York)
Dj Boom 1987 Miami Bass Tape Splice Mix (Rhythm 98 w/The Groovin' Cubin) This is very rare and one of the sickest radio mixes I have ever recorded from the fm dial
Brave New Waves featured artist profile Beastie Boys and Bad Brains 1986 (CBC Radio Simulcast to Windsor. I picked this station up on my oldschool Sanyo blaster back in 10th grade Flint, MI)
The Wizard (AKA Jeff Mills) WDRQ Detroit circa 1985
The King Tech Wake Up Show 90's all on 4 TDKs various years
Funk Master Flex???
Dj Cash Money (I think these were purchased in NYC from Tape Kings or some other record store back in 1999)
Dj Mars
Jam Pony Express The Original Loc Kool Joc, Big Bad Ace & JJ, Etc. Miami 1986, '87
Shigger Fragger (Dj QBert) Pirate Radio San Francisco
DJ Q Bert Pre Skool Break Mix (Tape Kings Purchase, NYC 1998-99?)

Pirate Radio 88.3 The Collective Live 6 Turntable Mixes Flint Mi
Personal Mixtapes from 80's throughout the 90's
Personal beats from the old MPC 2000, 3000 and 4000. I thought these beats were long gone
Live shows
Many more unconfirmed mixed tapes.

Still haven't found "Yet"
The Electrofying Mojo's Midnight Funk Association 97.9fm Detroit
Dj Chuck Chillout late 80's (98 Kiss FM New York City)
The Hank Love Radio Show in New York on am radio
Mr. Magic's Rap Attack late 80's FM Radio New York City
Worlds Famous Supreme Team Show 105.9 FM early 1980's
More Rhythm 98 Dj Boom Splice Mixes (Early Miami Bass, Cartoon Records, Tv Shows, and the kitchen sink Mixes)

Does anyone have any 80s or 90s fm radio mix shows
These were recorded personally at all locations via ghetto blasters from city to city apartment to apartment back in the day. Not all are in good reception but most are average some better others worse. The tapes are all 15-25 years old and need to be rerecorded or converted.

Very nice collection their zorlac! Here in Ausfailia we didn't really have a big hip hop culture so most of mine are classic rock, with some occasional indie stuff.

Man get digitizing! I know I wanna hear more WORLDS FAMOUS! A massive job ahead of you there.

Some old school stuff here: http://old-school-hiphop-tapes.blogspot.com

Nice link Terry!!

Thanks for that :-D
np Alfie.

I'll listen to any old radio tapes, I LOVE THAT STUFF. I wish I had more!

AWESOME!!!!

I had a rare double mixtape DJ set of Sasha playing at a club in the UK from way back in 1995. 2 x C-90's of wickedly mixed progressive house music. Sadly, I'm about 95% sure they were stolen during a house party gone a bit out of control.... I keep hoping they turn up. You must be feeling stoked!

Great pics, great tapes and great boomboxes!!!! Have fun sorting and digitizing!!!!

Congrats!!!

JT

Terry, i've gotta say that sight is better than the sight I dug up about 8 years ago in regards to vintage vinyl mixes and radio mixtapes. Thanks for the link. I think they might have the "Biz Markie and Dougie Fresh Beat Box Battles" from back in 1983. I'm gonna like this sight fersho'

JT if it was sasha at a show and you had the tape chances are if you dig you will find someone in the UK who has this. I was surprized to find this kiss fm latin rascals mix on 98.7 kiss fm after I had lost the original. Someone online had the same mix show from that night and it was better than mine with less reception noise (they lived closer to the transmitters). They also many others from kiss fm that I didn't have.

You just have to start googling and hittin the forums in that genre. I'm sure that mix was dope "sasha back in '95....

Recordings from:
Supermixes from DJ Paco Navarro feat.

Jose "The Animal" Diaz
The Latin Rascals
The FunHouse
Paradise Garage
Red Zone
JellyBean etc............

Those were the days.

Thanks for those links Zorlac lots of info. and some names that I have forgotten and now I can remember where I've heard them such as DJ Freddy Bastone born on the same year as I and tons more brought back lots of memories from those times.

For some reason Battle of the Disco 1982 92 WKTU file cannot be found?

Nyce Score..That's a nice collection of tapes..i recignize some of them that i had back then...(the TDK's) That have my greatfull dead collection on them...they still work well....I have alway's kept my cassettes close to my stereo and cd's collection, but like yours, i haven't played them in over 20 yrs. Now I started to collect Boomboxes- (and make sure the cassette players work) so I been listening to them...I found that they have to be ffd-rew. a couple times for them to work well I'm sure ya'll know that already though...Had a couple that were given to me a couple yrs ago that wern't kept in good condition like I keep mine, and they fell victom to a Panasonic 5150 that made short work of them...(It's not the Boom , it's the tapes)...I have also found that I have to clean the heads after every 4-5 I play though....tapes seem to shed alittle or something, and gunk stuff alittle..probably dust.. I also take apart my booms if possible, and blow the dust out..it helps..they run cooler, and the dust doesn't get into the tape player parts...Just babbling.. peace

Yeah I usually fast forward and rewind any cassette that hasn't been played in a long time. What else happens is moister sets in from the temperature changes. Once moisture sets in and then dries you get dirt and polution residue within the cassettes.

Yeah I use to get a lot of Q bert tapes in the mid to late nineties, the Shigger Fragger Pirate Radio Shows were my favorite...it was just about 3 or 4 poeple sitting around scratchin' cartoon records, comedy records, sound effect records, and instrumental beats. Shigger Fragger was my favorite by far. Dj Q bert, Shortcut, Mix Master Mike (a number of cali allstars) and a crap load of rare electro, Miami Bass, Hip Hop, Death Metal and cartoon records.
