Hi,

Could anyone please do a nice picture of the cassette deck inside the box please ?
I just want to check the locations of springs with mine. The middle cog that moves onto either idler seems a little iffy and sometimes doesn't move enough to engage, therefore it tried to chew tapes.

If anyone could help to provide a picture on this one I would really appreciate it.

I know not many people have this unit but if any one of those people can do me this huge favour I would really appreciate it and it would hel;p me to diagnose the problem with mine.

Well, Glue and MONO each have one. Maybe they can help out with pics. ;-)

docs i do not have that box but i have had a few other boxes with that same symtom of not engaging completely in play,, one thing i did find on one box was a bent plastic stub the was part of the cog wheel ,, it would not complete the cycle because of that ,, another one was because it was broke all the way ,, each box is a bit different but i belive i remember one of those boxes being a toshiba but not sure the model.... :-)

Thanks for the info, the little cog that engages the idlers is on a small motor I'm sure. The motor runs perfectly and it seems as though the cog can move freely to either idler, I'd say it only moves about 1-2 cm between the two. I thought at first it was down to muck as it was pretty dirty inside the deck when i got it and to be honest on using it a lot and pressing buttons a lot it did improve until next morning when it stopped engaging every time again. If I can just relocate this spring on the deck I can begin to work on the symptoms of that cog and post up some pics.

The spring was in the case but I'm certain it is a deck spring as it is identical to another one or two on there. I hope Glue or Mono can help out.

Thanks to Glue, the spring is now in its rightful place :w00t:

The cog that moves a really tiny amount between the two idlers though is still being a pain and not moving between them properly.
I've tried to lubricate it so it can move freely and it can no problem. I checked on the underside and there seems to be nothing that moves this cog other than momentum from the motor.
So as you press FF or REW that little cog moves onto the REW idler or the FF idler, except sometimes it stays put or sits inbetween them both.
It's a bizarre one and any help from someone knowing this deck would be appreciated.
kittmaster, can you help with this little problem at all ?
