Hi everyone!

So I have this nice white mini Sharp QT12 boombox which I wanted to customize. So I opened it up and everything went very easily UNTIL I came to the grills.
They seem to be mounted in the plastic so,mehow and I have no clue how to get them out of there...any ides or experiences? Service manuals?

Thanks a lot!

Usually these things are moulded into the plastic on the inside or have tabs where the grills are glued. Can you see anything on the inside of the grills at all ? If not they may have been mounted to the case before the inside had a piece stuck over it. Perhaps post a few pics so others can help.

I think in those cases they are probably glued in place and would be really difficult to remove without damaging them.
Frustrating design

Though you can sometimes melt the glue in the small gap on the outside but its risky.

Thanks docs, I think they are indeed mounted in the plastic which is pretty sad, I wish I could have removed them.
I wanted to make this one a Herbie custom boombox :-) .
Here is a photo of the inside:

They may just be snapped into the plastic from the front side with a little of the soft glue that pretty much just rips :-) just a guess :hmmm: I pulled one apart a while ago (same way) that was a newer cd round little bbx piece of crap :-D

No, those grills aren't going anywheres.
I have worked with this design many times.
It is not the desired situation but careful taping with masking tape, and sometimes careful cutting around the edge with an Exacto blade,
Can get some cool results.

Cheers OSS :afro:
