Does any body have one of these with this problem?
I just found this Mag and I plug my ipod into the inputs {after a big cleaning}
I press the proper cassette buttons to activate the inputs and I get a low volume sound.
Less than half the sound of the radio.
Is that the way it goes with this model or is there something I should look at to fix this problem?

Cheers OSS :afro:

I think someone on another thread suggested trying the aux output instead of the input.

Toledo, OH!
Also there's a switch for the mic/input. Play around with that and try the outputs as well. Its screwy but it should play loud.
Did you hit record???

mine was like that when i got it, you would push record/play to activate the inputs and it would do the same, what happened was the switch on the inside that activates when the record button is pressed was filthy. Quick blast of de-oxit (i think thats how you spell it) and it played fine, id troubleshoot a little bit on the outside of the box before cracking her open.

These boomboxes were designed in an era where line-inputs actually conformed to line-level signal strengths.

In subsequent years, portable audio devices such as ipods and mp3's and portable CD players became more commonplace. The outputs on these devices are designed for headphone // earbud use and the max output signal may still be lower than the standard line-level.

So it is NOT UNCOMMON for external devices to register a bit lower than internal devices such as tuner and tape.

I'm having a issue with my Magnavox 8443 where the volume of the radio is about 10% of what it should be compared to the cassette...Anyone know what it is? This is the one that said "Power Player" on it too...The other one said 8443D power player on the top..the controls circuit board inside was slightly different...(got two together in a package deal..each had issues, but was able to make a good one out of parts...)
I have a second one that I cleaned up, and got working and lookin like new, and love it...wanna get the second one goin to make someone else happy..Also..i need a battery door...anyone know where to git parts?
