Hi. I'm new to the 'boards, and I have an issue with my JVC 9315RH (I'm in Australia, so I guess the 9315RH is the same as the RS from Europe). For as long as i've had this radio (10-12 years, and i'm 16 :-D ), the FM has never worked, and there are no signs of faulting components. I've recently played with everything I can adjust and have made the AM and the SW a bit clearer than before, but to get any sound out of the FM, I have to turn the volume all of the way up, and I only get a slight hum no matter where I tune to. Any help on fixing this would be greatly appreciated! :-)

Welcome aboard, Dave_93. :-) Your problem sounds very similar to the problem my JVC M90 had. I was able to hear AM stations, but no FM. The tuning meter showed that it was actually receiving and tuning to FM station signals - it just had no sound output. The problem turned out to be a faulty IC (integrated circuit). Although I don't know for sure, I would guess the AN203 IC in your JVC likely needs to be replaced. If you are up to the task, a replacement IC can be found on eBay:

The only IC in the whole radio, and it fails on me  . I'll grab a replacement off ebay and chuck it in after I feel confident in soldering an IC and reply back wether it works or not. While i'm at it, I might as well socket it. I plan on having this radio for a long time... Also, thanks  I hope you're enjoying the sunshine up in Brisbane while I suffer with 15 degree days Terry! And, hi :-P

Something tells me the AN203 might not have been the problem. Being terribly inexperienced with radios, I wouldn't know anyway. So, after removing (and killing) the AN203, the SW and AM don't work anymore, but I have the replacement on the way. I've just got to get the chip to stay in the circut board (practice at soldering would have been a better idea as well. I can solder, IC's are just a bit harder than capacitors :-P
