The thrify store we visited today had cassettes at every turn. We even scored an AIWA boombox. :-)

Yes, that really is a Harmon Kardon linear phase cassette deck for 20$. The matching receiver is on the bottom shelf.

Our new addition. Not a bad sound: an Aiwa CS-660

That store is our watering hole for music, I wouldnt want to run it dry by buying all the tapes at once. :-)

Walkgirl, you sure do get around! You lit up the whole first page of 'active topics'. Under 1 minute per post, I couldnt even read that fast let alone post :-D

That Aiwa was a bit of a pain. We got the first cart to put it in, and it didn't even fit the cart! We had to go get one of those 'large' grocery store carts before it fit.

Nice!!!! Congrats on the Boomer!

Didn't want that Reel to Reel, eh?

Do they carry any sealed blank tapes? If so, that might be a small scale gold mine for you! Some of the better quality older Maxells & TDKs go for pretty good amounts!

Then again, they probably already know that...

Thanks Jaetee! Nope, didnt want the reel. Actually, they even have a new reel there now that looks like a boombox, it is really cool. And only 25$. It has a HUGE switch for play and rewind, makes a 'chunk' sound when moved.
As for tapes, I've scored a bunch, new and used. I even drove this large pile to supers house.

I'm reading this post as the woodstove is keeping us warm tonight. :-/
We often get into the negatives, and this area has seen -40 F. When we go out to eat at the local burger joint, the walls are filled with old west trinkets..including snow shoes.

Hmm..while Im in this thread.. Thanks Jaetee. Unfortunately, no new sealed ones are showing up.
