Hello everyone. I bumped into this picture recently and remembered having having this Boombox sometime in the Mid 80s. I would like to someday track another one down, but I am a little unclear as to which model this one was. I thought it was a Lasonic L30, but I noticed that the L30 actually has four knobs to the right of the equalizer, while this one only has three. Anybody know how much this go for now? Is eBay the most likely place to start my search? Thanks in advance for any information anyone here might be able to provide.

Welcome Shiva!
My first thought was the L30 as well and I think that's what it is. To find one you just have to watch eBay, thrift stores, Craigslist, local classifieds, etc. and you need to check often. I think you should be able to get a good one for under $200 if you put in the time and reject the junk.

Keep in mind all manufacturers including Lasonic had more than one version of many models and sometimes that included extra knobs and switches for added functionality such. Case in point it there are at least two versions of the 918, one has four extra switches for shortwave bands, loudness and tuner light.

Thank you so much. I believe this also had a speed delay button, so you could record something and then play it back with a Chipmunk effect. The sound activated lights were pretty sweet, too.

Welcome to the site Shiva. Is that you in the pic? I wish you luck finding your box. That's always a great way to start a collection.

Welcome, shiva!

My first thought also was the L30. The L30 model is the only one that had that style cassette doors. Maybe there were different versions of the L30 just like the 931.

Anyway, there's a nice Lasonic L30K on eBay right now with a BIN or best offer. See if the seller will give you free shipping.

Fatdog your link shows a different version of the L30, it has square speaker covers and the extra knob shiva mentioned.
I know. That's why I'm thinking Lasonic had different versions of the L-30.

Here's a version with the round speakers and notice that the tweeters are different too:

Yeah, that's me on New Years Eve (1986ish?) - kinda explains the Caspar the Ghost tan. That boombox was definitely my ticket to fame, glory and credibility in a city that only had about 5 white boys per square mile. I'm not sure if I remember the microphone, although I do remember recording a sh!tload of stuff using the tape/speed delay button and I probably wore the heads out playing Run DMC's Raising Hell & The Beastie's Licensed to Ill. It met an unfortunate end, however, when my old man drop kicked it after I ignored about 50 or so requests to straighten up my room. It was like watching someone kick a kitten. I still love him, but part of me still holds a little bit of a grudge. Did these have Aux inputs? I can't remember. I've seen the 931, but I'd prefer to hook my iPod up to this. Thanks again for all the info guys.

Looks like someone posted a video on Youtube of the L30:
