This thread is intended for the sole purpose of summarizing the ground rules for the Global Traveling Tape Race project and for tracking the progress of your team's traveling tapes. If you are part of Team Maxell, I suggest using the "subsrcibe topic" feature so you will be notified up log updates.

Please use this thread only to discuss shipping related progress or issues. Casual conversation about the project should still be posted to the original thread for all members of both projects to see:
http://www.boomboxer....php?f=2&t=5264

Traveling Tape Rules:

[*:2ibdf2y2]Target recording time limit is 15~17 minutes per participant
[*:2ibdf2y2]Each particpant is expected to use a boombox or recording walkman to record their selections. No high-end portable field recorders or compontent cassette decks should be used.
[*:2ibdf2y2]Please test your boombox's recording and play functions thoroughly before setting up your recording. Let's do our best to make sure we don't use boxes that might eat a tape!
[*:2ibdf2y2]Source device can be whatever you are comfortable with (Phono, Tuner, Cassette Deck, boombox, whatever....) Just make sure you record music.
[*:2ibdf2y2]Record your tracks in series following the person who was ahead of you on the list. Tape 2 should only be used when tape 1 is full.
[*:2ibdf2y2]Please sign both of your team's cassettes with a fine tip permanent marker.
[*:2ibdf2y2]Please add your recording details to the recording log which should be included with the tapes you receive.
[*:2ibdf2y2]Please include the recording log and maybe a postcard, sticker or some other souvenir for the next participant.
[*:2ibdf2y2]It is each member's responsiblity to view this thread and PM the next person on the list to get address info. Do not post phone numbers, physical address or email address information in public forums (for obvious reasons).
[*:2ibdf2y2]Please notify your team when you have received and shipped the tape so we can periodically update this log
[*:2ibdf2y2]And most importantly - HAVE FUN!
TEAM MAXELL - ordered list of participants:

Bold Italics = Tape received and shipped to next participant

Isn't Chris TRC-920 currently in Japan for a while?

Or is he doing it from Japan?

Rock On.

That's right.... I forgot about that! Gonna be there for a while too, IIRC?

Either way, Chris will need to let Blu_Fuz know the address when the time comes...

So, that means a trip to Asia could be in the cards for Team Maxell?!

Wouldn't component cassette decks knock me off? The likely decks I would use are from my component (box) decks...

And what about Dolby usage? :hmmm:

If it calls itself a boombox or walkman, it's fair game.

Regarding Dolby, all three of the boxes I used (incl. your former PC-3 :-D ) have Dolby or JVC's ANRS and I chose not to use it because I figure not all boxes have it..., and when you're playing back a tape you don't want to have to pay attention and flip that switch back and forth from track to track for "best" results. and not all Dolby circuits work the way they should, either. I typically default away from using Dolby on my home decks, too..

But If any of you feel strongly about using it, go ahead... Dolby B doesn't really harm playback that much anyway....

^^^^Dolby normally adds nothing

So I too do not use it to record on my home decks - as I prefer the head room.

Jt - First tape finished!!!!

Cool...

So, let me get this straight.... After Freddie's peanut-gallery-esque laughter following Fatdog's comment about Ford93 in the Team JVC thread, he turns out to be a speedbump for Team Maxell... :-P   Gottaluvit! :angelic:

That sure was a lot of unnecessary typing. It would have been easier to type "Blah, blah, blah."

Okay, now that apparent progress is being made with the tapes again, I have sent L-920 a PM asking how long he will still be in Japan and found it could be up to another month or so. Therefore, I've moved him to the end of the list.

Bold Text = Tape received
Bold Italics = Tape received and shipped to next participant
* = next in line to receive tape
