For years, I kept my little JVC RC-S22JW mono-box tucked away in my sock drawer (covered with socks, of course) because I was ashamed to admit that I bought it without a handle and didn't realize it 'til I got it home.

But now its twin - a Euro edition RC-S22L (with LW band and a slightly different assortment of SW bands) - has arrived, and I decided to pull out the JW, dust off the sock lint, and do a family portrait.

Actually, this is a nice little box, with a senstitive SW tuner (it's more like a multi-band radio with a cassette add-on) and pretty good sound, considering its size. Which brings me to my question. Do you suppose the S22 is the smallest JVC boombox ever made? I vote "yes," unless someone proves me wrong.

Will that someone be YOU!?! :-D

FIrst off..... everyone should know that I get first dibs on anything JVC related. :nonono:

Secondly... the JVC MR200 is a bit smaller. Same height and width, but about 1/2" smaller in length (1" smaller if you count the tuning knob in the RC-S22 's length)

Here's the photo Jared sent me of his S21. (Hope you don't mind if I share it.) Without the radio bands on the side, it's definitely narrower from side-to-side than my 22. But it might be a little taller with the tuner on top. Overall, I'd say it's probably smaller than the 22. But, as Ira would say, you gotta have the "dims" before you can know for sure! :-D

Yeah, I couldn't stand looking a that "giga-tube" monstrosity any more. I had to delete it. It didn't even make for a good joke!!

So... sometime can we see your MR200? I don't even have a vague idea what it looks like!

Yeah, I will take some pictures soon. I have to head out in a couple min though.... Don't get too excited though. It is more of a tape recorder with a radio. ;-)
