Well just the other day I was at Radio Shack browsing around and decided to buy some D Batteries for 1 of my boomers. The D were at $4.49 per pack 2 pk. I grabbed 5 packs as both my boomers use 10 D's.As I go to pay I noticed on the counter a large pack of D's I asked the salesman .How much are those he says $4.99 per pack 8 to a pack. .I buy 3 packs to take care of both my boomers the guy gave the impression they were a clearance item.I bought the 3 packs on the counter and left this was on Monday (Memorial day) Sunday I go to store again and notice 2 more packs on the counter I ask him to price check and he says they're $4.99 . I grab the 2 packs he has available bringing my total to 5 packs 40 total 2 sets of 10 for my boomers. My questions is why bring out 2-3 packs at a time and place them on the counter hidden between the register and all the other junk they put on there.Today I headed back and saw 2 more packs asked what the price was and he said $10.99 the sale ended yesterday.Sale I thought they were clearance item No they were on sale till yesterday. :-/ Well all in all $10.99 is still a good price but I was spoiled with the $4.99.

Ps These Radio Shack Batteries do last and are still going strong after all day out Memorial day with my Ipod Nano connected  .

Thanks for the heads up, I'll have to watch the radio shack sale flyer! One right by work, so I'll pick up one weekly. Just in case they all run the same sale (prob. do) I'll let ya know if I see them back on sale!!

Glad to hear they last too, I'm using some cheapo Rayovac's while on vacation!

You got a good deal for 8 @ $4.99 but the regular prices are quite high. $4.49 for 2 D Cells or 8 for $10.99 is just too much. Home Depot / Lowes / CostCo / Walmart / Meijer all have much better prices. There's usually a good discount with the 12 and 16 packs. I think I saw 48 pack (size AA) for $16.99 a few weeks ago.

I'm spoiled-Duracell only-they literally last for years!! Even months at heavy use.
Camping- 1 set and that's 3 days heavy use!! Rarely in any conditions with any box have I had to use more than 1 set!Even JVC PC 55JW!!!
I just always get Duracell!
Have a great one-GB. :-)

I agree with Ghettboom I love duracells and it's all I used back in the day. With the exception of the occasional Panasonic batteries that lasted just as long but not quite as available at times.

I only mess with Duracells and Energizers... I used to buy Ray-o-vacs every now and then (when I was too broke to buy Duracells or Energizers) when I carried my Lasonic TRC-931 back in the day and they'd only last for about 4 hours of heavy use whereas the D's and E's would last for days...

I'll tell you what... When I get a chance, I'll buy some Radio Shack's and see just how long they last... After all, maybe those cheap batteries last longer than they did in the past...

I think I'm gonna buck up for the Duracells, although I still contest that my Rayovacs even blasted at the pool tonight!

 :-D
