this box is too complicated to take it all apart. so is the M70.. i wanted to clean them. and both have belt/drive problems.. the music runs faster then slower on the M70.. the tape spins slow then the player stops the tape on the 838... too many screws and soldering in there lol.

The M70 isn't nearly as difficult as it looks to disassemble, if you know where the screws (I think six screws if I recall) are you can remove the inner frame fairly quickly making it much easier to work on. I think the manual is available from the downloads Fatdog setup for everybody, download the manual and use the page for disassembly. Heck even the screws are color coded if nobody has changed them, I think the screws holding the frame in are blue.

Don't forget to pull the slider caps and I think you need to take the cassette door off. :hmmm: I'm just going off of memory right now so you should trust the manual it will guide you well.

And don't forget the Single Malt Scotch. :-D Half a bottle will work. A whole bottle is even better.

this box is fairly easy to take apart the entire guts come out as one assembly you have to remove the sliders open the cassette door remove the screws that hold the chassis together pull the guts out pulling from the bottom first to separate the sliders from the holes then just unplug the wires to the speakers and pull the guts out.

Agreed Floyd, these are simple to dismantle and once you do it you'll ask yourself "was that it? Really".
:agree: the only pita is putting it back together trying to line up the sliders and switches in the holes will drive you nuts
