are the deck backlights supposed to work --when on batteries ??
mine dont :hmmm: :annoyed: :nonono: :-O

Don't know about this model Ira but every other one I know of makes the lights part time via a button when on batteries to reduce power consumption.

That either means the lights aren't an option on batteries or they forgot a button for the lights on batteries (dumb either way). :hmmm:

The only thing that irks me about the PC-55 is that I get no VU action unless the tape is playing. If that is by design, JVC sucked it big time. :thumbsdown:

If you really want the vu's on, hit record and pause. The vu's will work while listening to fm, aux, etc... :lol: :-P

still ---the 55 has so much nice clean power and the tuner is so good --
that we need to overlook these design flaws --

for "the higher purpose "

I agree. And with the speaker mod I did, it is like listening to diamonds glistening in the moonlight - in other words - magical! :-)

It's actually not bad! :-D It doesn't hold a candle to it's big brother or most of my powerhouses but it's certainly no doissapointment. I need to do some work on it to get it 100% starting with that damn power switch. :-/

But boy does it look good! :thumbsup:

Hi Ira-I actually watch old popeyes in my PC-55!! :lol: :-P Just kidding but buying mine brand new in 85' was such s special treet! Mine was cheap at 600.00!! :-O :surf: :cool:
These are special boomboxes-have my original and a "C" model.
Good luck with yours Ira-I know at night the light can hypnotise you!! All the girls loved mine back in the day!\
