Why don't you take the one out of the PC-55 you got from me and measure?

(BTW...didn't I give you the originals? Those Sony woofs I put in are about as big as it's gonna get with original fitup. :-) )
:agree:

I don't feel like opening it up and messing with it just yet. :-P I'm not sure if I got the OG woofs from you or not. :hmmm:

Besides, I have C9 parts everywhere at the moment.

The mounting diameter appears to be 5" (12.7cm) with a cone diameter of about 3.9" (10cm).

My Diamond Audio components speakers will now be going into the PC-55. :-D

During the transition, I modified some things. ;-)

Instead of using the crappy, hair-width, 20 gauge wire that was included with the DA woofers, I upgraded to 16 gauge, copper extension cord. I also upgraded the wire from the speaker input jack to the crossover. The DA tweeters were already wired with 20 gauge and the housing prevented me from upgrading them.

Once the crossovers were placed and secured inside the cabinet, I added a little bit of fiber fill that I bought at Wal-Mart. I then put everything back together. The DA woofers are about 1mm taller than the Sonys so I had to apply some downward pressure on the cabinet face to screw back on. I also used 16 gauge wire from the amp to the speakers.

The sound is definitely more transparent and the sound stage / stereo separation is noticeably better. The cones on the DA woofers are only 10cm, but they can definitely recreate some nice low punch.

All in all, It was worth my time and effort to upgrade the PC-55. I might still put some sort of sealant around the speaker cabinet in the groove between the face and body. The hole where the port is allows some air to escape.

Those Mission speakers look pretty cool. Even if they are 5.25" mounting diameter, you will still need to make sure that the PC-55 speaker face clears the woofer surround.

Will you be replacing the tweeters too?

i had also assumed that --
mostly because on ebay -- the 5 always seems to sell for more than the 55 -
and also --i remember reading a few old comparo threads about these 2 great boxes

well --maybe thats true --when comparing both stock sets -(with their correct speakers)

but --all alone - just comparing the 5 VS the 55 center sections --
hooked to these missions --
the 55 sounds better.
