Well where do i start?

I got this Sharp today from eBay - and straight off the bat it needs a little TLC.

It's got two aerials that don't belong - are these available?

My box says 12w on the front - I've seen these on the web with "22w" - I know there was an "X" version - is mine a special LOW POWER boomer?

Tape path sounds fubared - so it's going for a service when I get home.

Other than that - it's massive and FM knocks my GF 9191 into a hat,

Nice box CB, the 9494 is a strong looker.
As for the Antenna's just post in the wanted section and you might get lucky.

As for the 12 vs 22 watts, different version used different stickers. They are all the same power it's just that some used stickers with the Max Wattage rating of 22 while others used the RMS Wattage rating of 12.

No worries, don't feel slighted by that 12w rating. I think that's probably the most correct for output for a 9494. I'm about 98% certain that all 9494's used the same amp and speakers, and if I'm wrong I'm sure to be corrected in a flash by someone wiser... The reason for these different wattage values appearing on boxes is that different countries have different standards as to how electornics wattage can be represented.

You'll find the power consumption rating on the back label varies sometimes as well. For example, take the JVC M70. There's a JW, C and L versions that each report different values on the back label. I believe the JW version says 40w while the other two say 47w. But they basically have the same guts. L version has DIN ins & outs.

Enjoy your 9494! It sure is a looker, eh?

I believe the X version had the addition of the chrome centre caps on the speakers.

A genuine 12w RMS is a decent power level for a boombox, have no worries on that score.

And yes, it's a beauty and a decent sounding box, mine is a definite keeper.

Enjoy.
