Well I started on Ira's 40 tonight and got a great deal of it done with a heavy duty detailing.
I took the box completely apart tonight and went at it for about 4 hours.
The chrome bits seemed un-salvageable but with a good scrubbing and a little cleaner wax
everything is looking good.
I also polished out all the clear plastic for a beautiful clear luster. I got most of it back together with the exception of the speakers and the top chrome.
I want to sand and repaint the grilles and do something to refinish the top plate.
Also before its all said and done I would like to try and repair the chipped tweeter trim on the right side.
I am going to possibly attempt moulding a new piece if possible from the existing good piece.
Then its back to Ira then I guess over to norms for and electronic overhaul.
The unit sounds quite good but there are a few quirks that need to be ironed out.
When its all said and done Ira is going to have himself one helluva nice Bombeat!!!!!
Pics will be added tommorow.

Ira should pay each of you by letting you both ransack his collection for whatever you choose...better yet, a shopping spree! (Everything .99 cents) His home should not take long to go through ;-) :tease: ...he will however send you on a scavenger hunt for the storage building bonus!

Great to hear it is coming along well Frank!

It is in very good hands!!! Ira I am sure will be ecstatic for all your hard work to get it looking up to snuff - and I'm sure Norm the electronic genius will get her performing like new (or better)

theres lots of luck involved --
:angelic: :angelic:
we are all lucky to have members here like frank and floyd and ramon and norm and ohboy
and all the other guys with the talent and the desire to help us all out -
and do it ... time-after-time.

but --then the luck part goes into 'hold mode'
while the HARD and TEDIOUS and very careful //caring actual WORK begins :-O

8 days ago --me and the tosh ran into a huge lucky streak --
that frank was at the meet , that he liked the box, that he had ONE ample space
left in his hemi-car :-D
and ....bigtime ,,,,was that he volunteed to do all this good work......

i cant even dream of a better scenario    :surf:
THANKS
