Tape Deck on Magnavox D8443

Hi all. I'm new to the forum, thanks for having me. Does anyone have any experience with getting a Magnavox D8443 tape deck working again. The unit is in great shape, but the motor doesn't seem to run at all. I've got it open and the belts there, but nothing happens when you hit play or ff or rv.

My goal is to simply get the RCA line-in to work, my understanding (from this forum, thanks) is that you need to have the rec/play button pushed. I don't actually care that much about the tape player.

I'm hopin' for somekind of solution. Thanks.

i had the same problem it turned out being a bad power switch ,it would work on the radio but not the cassette it was not getting power because of the switch.

Thanks Floyd. That sounds like what it probably is. Any idea how to locate the switch?

theres a long black connecting rod that goes from the button on top the radio to the switch located on the pc board deeper inside the box as far as replacing it ,it's a pretty simple switch you might find on on ebay or radio shack or other electronic parts suppliers ,i replaced the pc board so that was easier .
