Hello All,

New member here. I recently scored an RX-C39 from someones trash and am looking to repair the unit myself. Both the play and record buttons are stuck and I'd like to fix this issue if possible. I'm having trouble opening the unit to inspect the interior and was looking for some guidance. I have removed 4 screws on the rear of the unit, two from the bottom and two located behind the handle. The front case barely wants to open and I feel as though I'm missing something in order to get the unit open. Any and all help is appreciated and thanks in advance.

Update: I found a screw I was missing inside of the battery bay. I have the unit open. I am now working on figuring out how to fix the stuck play and record buttons. Again, any help is appreciated. Thanks

If its anything like the rxc45 then the deck has soft touch controls which means when the belts go out the deck gets stuck in play mode , you have to turn the deck flywheel until the heads drop down and or the buttons free up.

Old thread but it’s worth noting in case this was the problem, the RX-C39 has a tape sensor. It’s a small plastic lever that stops the play button being pressed down if there’s no tape, I pulled the deck apart before I realised93174367-F928-498D-BEB7-3E1F1BDA5407.jpeg
