I’m looking to buy a DC power pack for charging of ipad/phone etc. And wondered if the same unit could power the Boombox through the 12v DC input.

I dont see why it wouldn't, as long as the input jack was correct.

Has anyone any experience doing this? Which power pack did you use?

I also have a solar panel for charging phones etc, that works great, if I could recharge my new power pack with the solar panel, then I am one step closer to living off grid, with the RC-M71 as entertainment ;)

Thanks.

As long as you dont exceed the rated input voltage you should be fine.

Also make sure there are no batteries in while using the 12 volt socket.

Good tip about the batteries.

The input jack dimensions look very standard. The trick will be getting a power pack that comes supplied with the correct lead.

EDIT, found a USB to 3mm x 6.3mm jack. So i should be good to plug a power pack in. I'll let you now how i get on.

If it’s a usb socket won’t it be 5v?

Make sure that 12v jack is wired correctly. A LOT of the older electronics had positive on the outer ring and negative on the center post. Most modern/new electronics are opposite of that.
