Portable/Home MD

Not technically a 'Walkman', but anyone else use portable MD?
I have several Sony portable recorders, a Sony MDS-JE440 (which I'm archiving a mix tape on as I type), and a Yamaha MD8.
I used the portables from the early 90s through about 2005 when I was a contract driver for the Post Office, driving in the middle of the night. With MDLP I could take a shload of music on just a few discs; packed very nicely into a small storage case for easy travel.

Started with a Sharp MDMS702 when they were first released, moved to the Sonys when MDLP was released.

Great medium, just too bad Sony priced the MD out of the market. Far more convenient than CD, but priced so high it never got popular in the mainstream.

Hi there, personally use a Sony MZ-900R. Way more portable than a cd-player with about the same sound-quality and a line out. The only thing I dont like about it is that it cant be used when charging.... (mine cant anyway) which is a bit of a nuissance when one comes to low battery and has it on a boombox. Battery life however is really amazing. As a "fixed" use I have a JVC PC-55 with a Sony D-50 cd player hooked up to it - and a mixed use, hooking up the MZ-900R to my Philips D8614 (in my mind the best sounding device EVER) or PC-5.
Use it for "mixtapes" as well. I really like how recording automically seperates the songs when it finds a blank of a few seconds.
But I guess they re still quite popular somewhere out there, it s pretty easy to get blank (Quality) MD's and they re even very reasonnably priced.
