Before you trash it, send it my way. It will live a nice retirement lifestyle playing golf and sunning by the pool in Arizona ;)

Brother have you tried roughing up the spindle with sand paper for some better grab. Also invest in a magnifying glass they work lol.

It's bascially lighter fluid (butane).  You can get that on Ebay.

I don't believe in restoring rubber!

When the chemical bonds are broken, nothing can tie them together.

Please buy a new one or get from other boomboxes.

Have you tried Platenclene? It's a well regarded restorer of rubber motor mounts, turntable platters etc. Never seen it used on pinch rollers but can't see why it wouldn't be worth a try.

Don't sand it lad, doing so will end badly!!
If all else fails, send it to me for a new roller to be fitted! The only way to go, you can't repair a pinch roller once it 'Barrels' & it will wreck the tape as it makes it wander up & down the capstan shaft creasing & damaging the tape!

I should a specified 3000 grit sandpaper , that way you dont scratch up the spindle.
