Hello everyone! My son has asked me for a vintage boom box. Turns out he likes the Conion C100. After looking on ebay I've quickly determined that they are quite sought after and expensive. Before I hit the "Buy it now" button on an impulse I want to do some research and learn as much as I can about them. As tempted as I am to buy one in need of work I have concerns about finding replacement parts etc. May make it a father son project if it makes sense. I'm able to restore just about anything but lack the knowledge to do a bluetooth or led mod which he seems to really want. Anyway, thanks for the membership! I look forward to exploring the forum for as much info as possible! :)

Welcome! Price depends how much someone is willing to pay. On Ebay they typically fetch $500-800. But obviously you could find one cheaper on Facebook, Craigslist, etc.

They aren't very rare, especially since there's a couple rebranded versions from Helix, Nippon, Clairtone, etc.

As for Bluetooth, that's easy. Rechargeable bluetooth receivers can be purchased for as little as $5 on Ebay, and they simply plug into the Aux jacks on the boombox. This would avoid you needing to install a Bluetooth card inside the boombox (which is easy to mess up with interference noises etc.)
