Hi,

I started with a post in the tech section regarding my Sony FH-11. There I also wrote a bit about who I am:

******
About me; I am a Swedish guy living in Germany since many years. I am mainly into older cars (focus BMW) but I happen to think Boomboxes are quite cool as well. Nothing wrong with that I hope
******

That is more or less the situation. I am pretty active in different car forums and i hope that this one is as nice as the other ones I frequently visit/use.

Always amazing to see that there is always a community somewhere, interested in any strange topic where people who are not interested in it would never think that group existed. The internet might be a scary place and technology sometimes. But for this purpose, and many other, it is really excellent. Without such activity as this would be very much more difficult. Many of us who are over 40 knows what I am talking about. Letter clubs etc... Back in the days... :-D

Looking forward to this

/Peter

Welcome aboard, Peter! Post some pictures of your car when you can. I enjoy BMW cars (currently own a 2001 530i), although I would like to have a Porsche some day.

My dream BMW would be an E9 similar to this:

I would like an old M6, M1, and a 928 GTS....

But, the upkeep of old German cars isn't very kind to people who don't have much money or don't have a good hookup for parts

Geez. Bad Aibling is not far from here. Nice small city. By the way I forgot to post a pic of the car. There has been several during the last years but this one I had for long and it will not be sold either. It is an 84' E24 635 CSi more or less original with Dogleg Sport gearbox. Great ride.

Just love this car.

@ Reli

The parts situation is actually not that bad and BMW has one of the best online-part catalogues out there. All free of use for all car enthusiasts. The parts prices are rising a bit that is for sure. But it is not that bad and a lot is still available in aftermarket parts. This off cause does not count to upholstery and all different special plastic parts for the dash and knobs etc but mostly you are able to dig up the parts in some forum. If you have an MB however, then you cry every time you pay for a part. They are extremely expensive. I have no idea about Porsche but I assume that is similar. On the other hand, they have more or less every old part on stock. That is what you pay for as well I guess.

Beautiful 6 series! That was their best looking design.

When I mentioned parts prices I mean brand new parts, compared to a Japanese or American part of the same type. A BMW light bulb, gasket, water pump, starter motor, clutch, etc. will usually be more expensive than a Honda or Chevrolet one, even if the technology is the same.

As for labor rate, it's always higher for German makes, simply because they know the owners are usually more affluent and will bend over and pay it. But of course I'm just talking about the situation here in the US.

In aftermarket, there is an explosion of parts available for Hondas, every kid who owns a Honda modifies it, and because of that high volume, you can get stuff cheaper than you could for BMWs or Minis.
