As some of you may already know, my loved M70 eventually succumbed to the failure of the bass potentiometer for which I reached out to Norm for help.

Up to this point in time I always wondered what it was like to have smooth sliding and operating controls. All of these boxes had 30+ years of enjoyment before I got into this hobby. I was destined to never know what they may have felt like out of the box new.

Well....not knowing how a new M70 control should feel is a thing of the past for me thanks to Norm. Quick turn around and an overall great experience all the way around. Highly recommend.

The board after repair with new caps and rebuilt sliders:

Installed and almost ready to flip the power switch:

And the moment of truth:

So, how did it feel to have my reconditioned M70 control board come back from the healing hands of Norm?

Well, this Star-Trek video clip on YouTube sums it up quite nicely. I am Q and everyone else are the neighbors.

Indeed Norm. The cast on this box are as follows:

blu_fuz: Strap (made from scratch)
caution: strap clips (made from scratch)
nikonfoo: aerials and posts (has every part known to man..or can get it)
superduper: control board (electrical component repair and replacement)
transistorized: mechanical (repair/adjustments)
Boomboxery: All who have answered my various questions to help me along the way to success.

Got to keep those M-70s blasting!
 Yes sir

Thanks guys. This is what the Boomboxery experience is all about. There is a lot of talent here. I have a whole new level of appreciation for this group and my M70. I've been carrying it around so much that I have grooves of the handle embossed in my hand.

Wow, looking real nice Ryan! If anyone thinks they can jump into the repair game and not have to reach out, well, congrats, your skillset is admirable.
But the rest of us, we need each other! :gathering:

By the way, that bracket - the material is going to last. Norm mentioned it's tougher to file than steel!

Thanks Eric. Right you are on needing each other. I seem to grow more attached to this box as time goes on. It's such a practical machine but I also have enjoyed interacting with you guys and seeing time related issues being reversed. I also seem to value my radio more now knowing that my friends here helped me out. As you know, this box has forced me to step out of my element and get to know the members here on a more interactive level. There are many areas and angles on this box showing the talent here. I've been tossing money left and right to get it where it is and I haven't regretted it one bit. I am happy to support you guys monetarily. I told Norm, I know I have spent quite a bit of money on this box but I don't plan to sell it. I could've spent less money on another JVC M70 that worked but it wouldn't have Eric's everlasting durable clip, a blu_fuz strap, perfect aerials from nikonfoo or the smoothest sliders in the world from Norm...and again I've gotten to build my box as well as relationships on here. Worth every dime in donations and all IMO.

It is nice to know about the clip material because if that were to let go while shouldering the box...well...game over! I dont want to think about that. Looks like that is one less concern for my box now that I have upgraded clips :-)

Congrats for this collective work.
I can help you with one of my demonstration cassette for JVC boombox, if you want it of course...
