Hello All!

Just joined, so I thought I would say Hello!
I have browsed around here over the last few weeks after looking for info for 1 of my Boxes! ( Sanyo M-V40K-Red)!
I also was trying to get info on my soon to arrive Yorx K-3681!

Like a lot of you here ( I believe?)
I was a kid in the eighties and grew up around BoomBoxes and used to own one back in the day! I have always had fond memories and appreciation for them and the culture!

I am looking forward to learning as much as I can about the culture along with getting to know you guys along, with insight into Boxes I now own!

* On a side note, the registration question(s) was BANNANA'S. I feel like a true member due to what it took to become one! HA
BUT I TOTALLY UNDERSTAND WHY!!

Welcome aboard, BoomBastic! Just out of curiosity, is your Yorx coming from California?

Thanks for the Hello's thus far!
I do have a question as I really dont know!
Is the Yorx K-3861 an 'AKA' or was is the standard box that other AKA were based off?
I cant really find alot of info on the Yorx outside of the manual (which is a good thing!) and the fact that the Rising SRC-2005 and the Claritone 7978 are two of the main boxes that it get's compared to. I didn't know that there were more AKA as well including a Soundesign version!
So would it be safe to assume that the internals were not the same for some of the AKA's for this model?

I don't think any of us know for sure if there is a "standard" version of that boombox. It might have been a generic design that allowed for whomever to put there brand on it. However, all the different versions are pretty much the same on the inside save for some minor tweaks each company might have chosen.

If it's coming from California and the seller's name is Adrian, I'm fairly certain that it used to be owned by me. I know of only one K-3681. If the volume knob (maybe tuning knob - I can't remember) has a somewhat long scratch across it, it was definitely mine at one time. The K-3681 was one of two boomboxes I purchased from pabaker back in 2007 when we were at Stereo2Go. I had it for quite a while before selling it to SINISTER (...I think it was SINISTER). After that, I'm not sure of the chain, but it eventually ended up in Adrian's (mac daddy freshness) collection.

Fatdog,
I reached out to the person I bought it from, he said he does not know an Adrian, his last name is Tran.
Maybe Adrian, still has your old one and this is a second unit that was in Cali?
With the Yorx being one of the units where there isn't alot of info much less who owns one maybe this isn't the same one?
BUT I will know when I get it on what to look for to determine if it is in fact your old one!
If it is your old one howerever, I hope it is in good shape! The pics I looked at I would grade it at an 8.5 or a 9 out of 10...But pics can be deceiving! (I hope not in this case!)

Yes!
I got my Yorx today and I must say it is in awesome shape!
Fatdog, I looked for what you said, there is no scratches where you said there would be. I did notice there is a scratch on the top aluminum trim by the volume knob however. Also noticed that the handle has a bend in it that you can see from looking down from the top not straight at it.

I also asked the Wife for another boomer as a Bday gift for me and I sent her a few requests within reason and budget,,,
A Lasonic L30 (needs a little work) (Does a lot of cool stuff!)
A Lasonic TRC-920 (Also needs work) (Really wanted this one!)..Either way I love the Wife!
And in the bonus round im looking at getting another later this week..(I won't mention it unless I get it!)
I will put some pics up soon!
