Sad that there are no true quality decks anymore
In boomboxes the best ones were in 78-81. After that, they went downhill.
Case in point: Sharp GF-9696 from 1980, wow and flutter was only 0.06%
Two years later, the GF-9000 was 0.17%

Yes, looks like a Sharp QT-27, but quality is so poor - sound is bad, working in mono, not stereo...
I think, it's better to buy old boombox, restore it and mod it with BT module.

Another case of 'get-them-sold-fast-and-cheap, - fark-the-quality' and incorporate an old model for a bit of street cred. I like to see manf's try to make a BB with the latest technology but this is just another cheapo cost cutting product that'll never enjoy the enduring popular appeal of it's well made predecessors.

I bought one of these Aldi specials last year and yes it is very cheap and nasty and is mono only.
Sound quality is grim but they look quite good sitting on a desk.

Got me interested in real boxes again though, so I thank Aldi for that. :)

I'm probably out of my mind, but with the recent rise in cassette sales, I still have hope that one of the higher end audiophile companies might make a bespoke premium deck for a home system, that in turn might trickle down to a boombox. :dunce:
