I just wanted to wish all the Great Dads out there a Happy Fathers Day this weekend. Also, to those who are spending Fathers Day in Heaven as well.

Do us proud and be sure to make your favorite boombox part of your day if possible.

This will likely be my dads last fathers day so I plan to spend all weekend with him. Even if it's nothing more than watching TV :-)

...but my radio will be outside on the deck playing away while I'm grilling and for anyone who wants to listen :-)

Anyone have any plans they know of? Or better yet....maybe might be getting a new boom box for fathers day ;-)

Thanks Bro.

Now that it is officially Fathers Day today, here's hoping all the Dads on here are having the best day possible.

Ryan, I am so sorry to hear that. :'-( :'-( I hope these past couple of months were a blessing for you and your family. It's rough to get through it. I still have days when my dad's passing hits me hard. We are here for you if any of us can help.

So sorry to hear this!!!
Thanks Bill. Your old RX-7000 has been helping by removing the silence at night to help me sleep. Funny how our boomers can sometimes provide the distraction needed to get through tough times. I watch the needles bounce until I doze off.

You are so right my friend. It hits me in waves. One moment I'm good and the next....not so good. Have to get through visitation and funeral. On top of that, the stress of dealing with all the unpleasant necessities has brought on a bout of gout.

As long as we are pieces on the chess board, we have no choice but to play the game of Life.

Dang Ryan, I'm sorry to hear that. The 14th is actually my Mom's birthday. I hope you are doing as well as possible and were able to say your goodbyes.
I appreciate the kind words guys. He knew I was there which made me feel better.

It's a tough thing when they roll in the morphine cart and instruct you to push the morphine button each time it lights, knowing that with each press they're fading further and further away. I was there until the last breath. That whole experience will forever be burned into my memory.

In times like this, it's nice that my vintage gear seems to be paying their respects by keeping me from absolute silence. They've all been taking the extended use with stride.

Right now I am keeping myself busy by helping my mother around the house. God gave me the ability to diagnose and repair almost everything so I plan to use that gift and help out around her house. From a water heater to clothes dryer, I've been hard at work while she's been dealing with the paperwork.

I'm sure things will calm down a little after a while I'm sure :-)

Wow, sorry to hear about your loss. My sincerest condolences. I lost my dad on Aug 15th 1985. He was 53 and had colon cancer and a piss poor money grabbing doctor. My parents were both uneducated immigrants who trusted people more than they should have. I received the call at 11:05pm of his passing. I was 15. My mom didn't know how to understand much english so I took the call. My mom passed on January 2nd two years ago on her wedding anniversary. She had a fatal stroke and we stayed by her hospital bed for two weeks watching and waiting for her to pass. Nothing they could do. We go home (brother and I) from the Hospice and they ended up calling my cellphone. (I'm visiting NY from AZ mind you). I get the news she passed. That call should have gone to my brother as he was older I thought. I am in tears thinking about this as I write it. I completely understand your loss. It's hard and it does get better with time. Their memories and what they did for you will never fade away. Keep that radio playing as I do mine that my dad gave me. God Bless you and your family.

I think for the most part we are close to the same age. We have been around the block. We’ve seen alot of crap over the years. You get to realize that we are all one in the same no matter the background. Yes, we are all human and have feelings and some great memories to share with one another.
