I've not spent much time on this forum recently, mainly due to ill health but my more recent absence is due to the death of my younger brother.

Lee was 64yrs when he died alone and the manner of his death was very unpleasant & upsetting as was the period leading up to his his death.  He was one of those "could be something of a pain in the ass brothers on occasion but was always lovable despite 'whatever' "  I can't elaborate at the moment but the police are involved and an autopsy is due to be carried out.

He was a lovable & thoughtful kinda guy and I remember him being just as nice even when he was far too young to start school, it's just such a horrible feeling when you've missed the chance to say a few words of comfort while the opportunity was there - even to say goodbye would have meant something.

I'll never be short of reminders of him as in the 1980's he'd planted trees and shrubs extensively in the grounds of the local hospital, they're all still there in their maturity and I'm frequently pointing the fruits of his labour out to all and sundry upon every one of my visits - always with great pride.

R.I.P. Dear Brother.

Thanks, Guys.  The situation is quite surreal at the moment, 'raw' is fair description of how it all feels so far.

My sincerest condolences. It is never easy losing someone close let alone not having been there. I am sure he is looking down wanting you to remember the good things in life and to carry on. We are all on this journey on different courses all leading to the same road at the end.

I'm sorry for your loss, I've never been good at dealing with losses, and hardly strong enough to talk about them. I hope you and any family/friends are doing as well as possible. You can always say goodbye anytime. He'll know.

That sucks !.
I don't care what anybody says , there's no dignity in death , not too much dignity in life either.

All your kind words, thoughts and gestures are most welcome, chaps.  I know this may be something of a difficult or sensitive matter to read or or respond to so worry not, sparing a thought is more than enough.

Every comment has been a welcome thought, even the music vid and JVC Floyd prompting me to think that I should have given Lee a 'wake up, bruv' kinda (respectful) slap, a telling off or something............anything, more than I did.  I'm continuing with my 'what if's' , 'maybe if I'd done...' and so on but nothing changes except the memories have become so much more important than I'd ever realised in the past.  Searching my mind for all those long forgotten memories stirs up all manner of emotions but every one of them now has a value like I'd never have imagined.

It wasn't too long ago that I thought he was going to curl his toes up so I made a memorial type of video about him with a slide show of pics of his life and the sound track I used was He Ain't Heavy, He's My Brother by The Hollies:

I can understand some people distance themselves from their loved ones so they can sink into a hole in peace lol. Its not fair but at the same time at least you know they cared in some way.

Thanks again for the kind words and thoughts.  There's a bit of a lull in arrangements at the moment so planning anything is intermittent at best as so many agencies need to be involved and all in a particular sequence.  It may turn out to be a little complicated but we'll get there.

Another brother (Mr Nice Guy) was relating to me a conversation he'd had with my sister regarding Lee's funeral arrangements and the 'tidying of affairs' that went something along the lines of: "We need to get this sorted out so we've got it right - we don't want to go through all this again with Christine......". So, there you have it: It's either a foregone conclusion that I'm next or I got the short straw!
