Hi everybody, first post here.

Im a proud new entry of this world and I currently own a couple pieces, but my Panasonic doesn't work anymore.

It starts, but doesn't emit any sound, whether in tuner/aux/cd mode.

Is there anybody that can help fixing it?

Thanks in advance

Like no sound at all? How about buzzing or white noise sounds?

Nothing at all.

Take to TV&VCR repair place? :-)
Not sure those places still exist where I live but I'll take it in consideration.

I downloaded the service manual and proceeded to take a look at the inside as my aunt left it under light rain before I started taking care of.

I obviously let it dry for a month in a dry place and used an hair dryer too, even if it took really small rain; in fact it worked flawlessly.

The inside looks pretty fine and damage free, I took out a couple boards in order to see better the main board and checked the fuse which seems obv fine.

There are a couple capacitor that doesnt look completely ok but from my limited knowledge I cant really tell.

Look at the base of the capacitor and on the board:

Here's the board on the other side, there seem to be some rusting or similar:

If you have no clue what you are doing apparently it's not worth going further. Larger caps are perfectly fine - bottoms are glued to PCB by Panasonic :-) Thanks to internet people assume they can fix anything by finding the manual and/or going to the related site.

Yeah I tried my best hoping some quick trick would do the job but if its not the case I'll stop at this point.

Problem is I really want to have it fixed, it was perfect for my mountain cabin where we're still running on 12 volts.

From a quick look parts doesnt seem easy to find, so my last option is taking it to a vcr/tv repair shop, assuming Im able to find one still operating in my zone.

Is there any place online to look for these kinds of parts?

May it be one of these IC protectors? (IP301)

No such thing in these boxes Rimmer. That device you circled in the picture is an overcurrent protector for the power amp, sort of like a fuse but it's not supposed to fail permanently. But besides that there's no reason to think it's the problem, determining that takes time and skill and tools.

If all you are capable of is making pictures and guesses then I'd take toshik's advice and take it to a shop.
If you are determined to fix it yourself you could start here: http://conradhoffman.com/troubleshoottut.htm

If "it starts" means that there is evidence that it is powering up but just not emitting sound, (especially since it has been exposed to the elements and shows signs of mild circuit contamination)...I would deoxit all the control switches and pots, headphone jack, etc.. and see what happens.

Couldn't hurt.

It's probably more involved than that... Don't miss the title of the thread which says volumes. The OP says the fuse "looks fine." Not sure I would personally just look at a fuse to determine that it hasn't failed.
