Rc-550 Volume slider help

My diablo is acting funny - volume is full blast. If you move the slider up the tiniest bit, its right to deafening loud. It came like this. I have cleaned it with deoxit and q tips, and it still acts the same. Sometimes it will play at medium volume but the slider is on the lowest setting - basically off.
What could I do to fix this? I don’t think it’s a cleaning issue.

I would pull it down (pot) and replace or clean and grease.

Ahh, the old "JVC slider" story again. It seems to be a fairly easy fix. There are a few threads here that have advice on how to rebuild the sliders. Take a look in the M70 tech section - probably some in the RC-550 section too.
