i am going to be rebuilding the bass slider on my M70 when i take it apart again. i found a copper "feeler" loose in the bass slider and took it out with a pair of tweezers and put it aside.

what kind of adhesive should i use to glue the copper feeler back in place to the plastic?

also, with that feeler out, what does the bass level default at? -8, 0 or 8 ?

I personally haven't used the Elmer's brand stuff. The JB PlasticWeld has a tensile strength of 3,200PSI when fully set - so, it's dang tough. Do you really need 3,200PSI tensile strength? More than likely, no. If you have used the Elmer's before and know its strength, it might work just as well.

Should be getting my plastic weld in the mail in a couple of days to attempt this repair. Out of curiosity, does the bass fader have one or two of these?

would you still be able to hear both channels with one feeler removed? i ask because i wonder if the box was ever repaired and somebody and they put a fixed resistor somewhere.

There's a ton of material on this subject if you search the archives. I know, I put a lot of it there, and trust me, we don't really like typing the same stuff over and over again. Failed slide controls on the M70 are a common problem.

As to your specific question, even if there were no feelers on the bass control, the signal will still find it's way to the volume control, but not through the normal path so the sound just won't be right. The RC-838 is a different story.
