Recently acquired single tape decks of an Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny nature for those small spaces and temporary BB back up tape via Line IN. No headphone socket? No problem with the ol' passive adaptor:

Although there's nothing fancy or even a hint at high tech awesomeabilityness(!) they're nice little audio items for my collection and one deck is currently in use in my kitchen sat nicely atop a shelf speaker. Happy days!

From the pictures, it appears that the silver one is the only deck that records. How do you monitor the recording level on that one?

You're right with this, the SCT-34 (Silver/wood effect) is the only model with the facility to record and, as there are no level indicators or facilities for manual controls, I assume it's a rather basic automatic setting as I haven't used this feature yet. This model is the only one in the images that has regular 90o angles on all sides.
