GF-9191 Shield Plate Replacement?

Hi, I just bought a fairly good condition Sharp GF-9191H off of eBay.

I've gotten it completely disassembled to clean it up.

During the disassembly, the cardboard backed shield plate on the inside of the device came off a little worse for wear - it's probably still usable, but I'd like to replace it if possible.

Does anyone know of a source to replace them, or can I make one with aluminum foil and cardboard cut to the right shape?

Thanks!
Matt

That might be your best bet. I don't know what cheap cardboard they used back then, but some of those shields just disintegrate if you breathe on them the wrong way.

I found out recently, because of this topic, that the foil on cardboard isn't necessarily a shield. A lot of times it was an internal antenna to help with AM or SW reception. How about that.

Where'd you hear that Bobby, I'd be interested to see it if such a topic exists. In this case, it's virtually certain to be an RF shield, as it's grounded and a flat plate makes a horrible AM or SW antenna & being right above a circuit board, would probably pick up all kinds of electrical noise, except the actual radio signal you will be wanting.
