Hi

I got this unit from Japan and whilst it was in good condition, operationally it was flawed.

After trawling YouTube for some guidance I decided to jump in. I service all my Walkman collection so am happy to say that I was only too happy to get started.

The usual stuff. New belts, pinch rollers, speed adjust, head alignment, cosmetic refresh, remove old grease, apply new grease, turntable overhaul.

However I noticed two leaky caps and wanted to ask what they serve. Both are 100uf 16volt. On the cassette play/rec board.

She’s now really singing and dancing but curious as to what purpose those two caps satisfy.

Great job and well worth the effort.
If you take a look at the service manual you can identify where those caps sit and what their purpose is.

I agree awesome restoration job!! These can be a little tricky. As far as capacitors are there to hold the electrical energy until it’s needed by circuit as main function
