HI guys rookie electronics question here so apologies ahead of time. I have a GF999 that doesn't want to power up via batteries. Compartment seems clean (no rust of signs of acid) what is usually the best trouble shooting process to fix this? Cant imagine not being able to carry this bad boy around without batteries so would love to fix!

Clean the contacts thoroughly even if they look ok. The amount of radios I have had not work on batteries then I give them a little roll while in situ and get a blast of radio......rub em with a little bit of wet and dry to bring to clean metal.

AC plug in area got a cut off switch from AC to battery there. That can also cause the same problem besides the contacts. Make sure the battery is all aligned well from plus and minus to the correct terminals.

Does it still have the foam on the battery door, to hold the batteries in place? If not, they could be slipping out of position.

The AC switch is another common problem. There is a spring-loaded switch inside the AC input that shuts off battery power when you insert an AC cord. Sometimes it gets dirty and needs to be cleaned with contact spray.

Awesome thanks guys. Im back in front of radio in a few days and will dig in. Batteries seem to be sitting pretty snug so likely terminals or this switch. Will keep you posted! thanks again guys.
