Hi I was lucky enough to pick up a VZ-2000. I went to buy another record player from someone and they had this as well. As soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it, and I really want to get it working, but I am having some issues with it. I have searched the internet and read some other threads but I can't seem to find any answers to my problems so I was hoping someone could help me.

In regards to the sound, I can only get a really low volume coming out of the headphones, barely anything at all but enough to hear that it is working. I have testing out the powerboard and checked that the right voltages are going through, so I am a bit stumped on that. I did read that it could be a problem with the sliders, but I wanted to see if there were some other suggestions before I pull it apart even more.

Also, for some reason the tape deck is not working. I have tested the motor on it, which is does, but for some reason when I press play the mechanisms don't come down and there is not movement in the cassette part at all.

On the plus, the record player and the tuner work.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you,

Mark

Sorry, the motor works on the cassette deck (my grammar was a little off then). Also, i only get low volume when I have hooked up the speaker as well.

Mark, try and use deoxit/contact cleaner on the tape deck record bar, all sliders/function switches and all sockets like speakers and headphones etc.
The usual culprit is the tape deck record bar, spray this with deoxit thoroughly and activate the switch quickly several dozen times to clean the internal switch. Once that is out of the way you can start to look at the possibility of an electronic issue.

The deck probably needs new belts which means taking the deck out, accessing the rear and replacing old worn belts.

Thanks mate. I've done that and the volume has gone up a bit, i may need to do a bit more cleaning i think.
I found that one of the leaf switches on the cassette deck is broken, which i am assuming would be the cause of the cassette player not working, so I have to get one of those.

I'm also missing the plate that goes behind the power switch, would anyone have an idea as to where i could pick up on of them?
