Hi everyone!
This is my first post here. I recently purchased a 9994k that is in need of a few parts. I am looking for recommendations for replacing the speakers because it came without. I am also needing a handle and power supply. My father had purchased a 9994 back in 79 on the Alaska pipline. I remember listening to it as a kid until it disappeared off the farm out of his camper. I am really looking forward to get this box up and running. I've got the belts on the way! Thank you everyone in advance for the help!

Hi! Did you just get that one on eBay for around $160? Hope you got it for lower price. To help you out, there is a power transformer harness on eBay right now for the 9994 for around $30 plus like $23 shipping from overseas. The speakers will be tough since you will need the same ohm rating at 2.3- 3.0 ohm area I think. Have you done a rebelt install on a cassette player before? If not, you are in for a real treat with this Sanyo. They are one of the hardest to rebelt, not for the squeamish. There are harder ones but this one sits in middle . Panasonic boomboxes are designed very nice to rebelt. Very simple to do. I just bought one a month ago, got the four belt kit, installed the belts and cleaned the whole deck. The cassette deck is not easy to work on either since they are coupled together with rest of radio boards, and not with plugs, its soldered. Check on YouTube and watch Teddy Hashee with his restoration of a Sanyo M9994. He's awesome! Superduper on this forum is another awesome M9994 aficionado. Good luck with speaker search.

4 ohm speakers will work fine & less likely to blow (amp/speakers). Just pick efficient ones & you won’t even notice any change in volume which would be slight, if any.

I think I might have a pair of speakers here somewhere from an M9998 which are the same except they have a slightly higher power handling rating.

First off I must say you guys are super friendly and helpful! @ Matrix, I picked it up off the fleebay for around $160 after shipping have changed belts in a Sony wm-3 a while back and didn't have to much trouble. I have not got to bench test it yet to see if the tweeters are still good and if the power supply is really bad. I'll probably get around to it this weekend. Thank you for the heads up on the YouTube video and power supply. @ Van, I'm not sure if the tweeters are bad yet. @ Super, If I can't get a set of original Sanyo speakers, I will go with some 6" 4 ohm speakers. @ Jimmy, Let me know if you can find the 9998 speakers and what you need to get for them!

Ok, I’ve found a pair of M9998K speakers and a single M9994 speaker (repaired cone).

Although both the M9994 and M9998K speakers look similar and are the same size, the M9994 speaker is 2.5 ohms and the M9998K is 3 ohms. The cones also have a different pattern. Both M9998K speakers need the felt tip pen recolouring trick. :-)

All 3 speakers are in ‘average condition - not mint but originals are preferable for that ‘big chrome caps’ look. These Sanyo speakers are very softly suspended (particularly the M9998K speakers). I’m suspecting it’s this very characteristic that’s the secret to the nice bass production.Attached File  AB67DA93-F840-4FCA-B6A6-71C49147816E.jpeg   116.92K   8 downloadsAttached File  C70EC71F-0E24-40B0-8E45-5A343A38E9B3.jpeg   132.25K   8 downloadsAttached File  91B1FF07-0EE7-4A25-B32C-A5D51DE0722B.jpeg   124.84K   7 downloads

Great pictures, never seen the speakers side by side before. Both of those Sanyo boxes sound nice.

Thank you for taking the time to submit all those pictures! After receiving the m-9994k. I found that the case is all smashed up.The previous owner really messed this thing up. I might have to look for another 9994k and use this one for parts.

Ugh!! Josh....I am sorry to hear about radio casing condition. I didn't see any deformities in pics of it on eBay, was that due to shipping it to you/ handling damage? I just bought another M9994 on eBay a day or so ago. I am very worried about this purchase but I had to get it since it didn't go over $200. I am waiting on it now coming from clear across the USA. It was the one that the owner had it halved apart, and lost the darn casing screws to it (all six), and also the plastic sleeves that slide in the groove to house and clamp the handle ends in and so it can fold up and down. I will have to make something for the handle holders or hopefully I can just buy them from someone's parts unit.
Did you ever purchase any of the speakers offered by these fellow great members here? If you aren't planning to, I may ask one of them to sell their spare M9994 speakers/ tweeters to me. So what is your plan now with your quest on getting another one? I hope you can. I am still sending my first pristine one I got a month ago to a technician to align the dial pointer tuner. I have the cassette deck working flawlessly in that one. The one that's coming is a crap shoot. I will evaluate it when I get it and share what I find with you all here. Great group of people! Good luck in your decision and quest for a Sanyo m9994. I am officially hooked on this lone Sanyo amongst my many Panasonic and one JVC M70.

The seller neglected to pack the 9994 with any padding, they just squeezed it in a box and taped it up. A very sad and disrespectful thing to do, for the 9994 and myself. I would be interested in purchasing replacement parts if someone has the parts here.

Holy shite! That’s just piss poor carelessness. A 38 year old box that’s survived all these years gets trashed just like that. Makes me so angry.

Anyway here is an eBay link to a case

I would love to order that case from ebay. At this time I don't have the $200 to send to South Korea. I'd rather see the money go to someone who actually cares about these parts.

Jimmy. Would you happen to have 1 tweeter case too? 1 of mine has been to close to a heater/fire and warped/melted.

Here is the front case after a wash. Found another M9999K driver with a better chrome cap so we now have two matching drivers. Found 8 correct speaker screws too.Attached File  482CDDD5-6555-4293-B095-31228AFD3203.jpeg   170.4K   3 downloadsAttached File  8209008A-E388-4FDD-ACCE-AE16D5B3E2F0.jpeg   126.56K   3 downloadsAttached File  7F6DBB5A-7B04-45FC-90D6-BB2F3DAA806A.jpeg   154.48K   1 downloadsAttached File  1A66A19F-F89B-4008-BF8E-23DD641811C6.jpeg   151.12K   3 downloadsAttached File  22F759B9-49C5-4DB0-9E23-2BF9EBC532E6.jpeg   126.34K   0 downloadsAttached File  47E55ED9-27E1-436E-80D6-4D0E5042AF61.jpeg   127.47K   2 downloads

I didn't want to box to suffer any more from that guy. He did send me a refund minus shipping, and I still have the 9994k.
