can anybody please tell where i can get a record and replay head for a hitachi 9100e mine wont record or any ideas why it wont record it does everthing else excellently much thanks for any help (ps im new to the group so hope this is in the right place) dave

oh sorry im new to this, im from salford manchester uk , i bought my hitachi on ebay with the cassette not working had a look at the belts they were snapped and rapped around the motor after cleaning it and changed the belts it all worked great until i tried to record from the radio and there was nothing also tried speaking into the mic still nothing so i just presumed it was the head a already taped tape plays fine.any advice or help would be most appreciate .thank you so much

Hi Dave, I had this, funnily enough with a Hitachi to. It ended up being nothing more than a dirty record bar.

Try this, put a blank tape in (or lift the record tab with a finger) and press rec and stop at least 20 times then try recording again, I'm guessing you get something. This will then confirm the record bar needs a thorough clean.

fixed it,it was just a small spring missing on the left hand side of the tape mech.i bought another with the same problem so now got 2 9100e both work brill.

For the record...............................I have a bit of a beater TRK-9100 with all parts available, some areas of the outside are somewhat rough so it remains a donor.
