We may have lost the very last mohicans of Rhythm & Blues!!

I discovered him early 2017 only to find out recently he had passed that very same year. I was so caught up with my own health I didn't know of his passing.

He started his career at 62 yrs. old!!

His life has been one for the books. If you have Vudu check out his documentary called "Soul of America" it will move you.

Sad that he had such a short career due to cancer he loved his mom dearly, admired James Brown and was such a humble person.

Thank you for blessing us with the sweet sounds of Rhythm and Blues!!

R.I.P. brother you're now with your mom and brother.

I've never heard of this artist before reading this post but I've already tracked down some of his music for purchasing. Charles has a fantastic voice, it's wonderful grittiness is merely the supporting cast for the story of life's trials & tribulations that seem to be etched into the face of this gentleman entertainer. You just gotta love a guy as gifted as Charles is - thank you, Charles for giving so much to the world.

He was a James Brown impersonator in Vegas for years. Someone finally discovered him around 2015 and signed him. I own his 2nd album "Victim of Love", it's down and dirty, great stuff. BTW, if you watch the Netflix cartoon series Big Mouth, he sings the theme song "Changes" which is fantastic. Gregory Porter was another under-appreciated singer in the US, had to go to Europe (much like Hendrix and Nina Simone to get recognition) to make it big. Porter sounds like the 2nd coming of Isaac Hayes.

The song Changes is dedicated to his mother. Most of his music is based on the good times and bad times of his life. He gave back so much and was blessed with the very few that gave a moment and listen.

His latest album Black Velvet is his last unless there are tracks that are still in the studios waiting for being released.

Love his style!!

On Gregory Porter I agree with you Hajidub his voice is such as Isaac Hayes!!

I would love for Gregory Porter to sing this song from Isaac Hayes:
