I would assume the Sharp GF777 since it's so big?

Any comments on the biggest clean sounding hitters?

I'm used to hearing the power of my vintage 1978 Pioneer SX 1080 and 980 receivers,
If you guys like the vintage boom box's I bet you'll like these. (120 watts and 80 watts a channel)

I know it's a long way from this type of power when you compare to a portable box though.

I LOVE the old classic box even more than these receivers even still.

I think the conion c100 is the most popular choice for a big box with plenty of bass and treble. It definitely encapsulate the spirit and badassery of the boombox.

Sharp GF-777 are disappointing IMO. Sure they're built well and loud and everything, but the bass craps out early and becomes muddy. Those "subwoofers" are really just mid-bass woofers.

Also, just because a box might have lots of treble doesn't mean it's accurate treble.

If I were you I'd look for a Panasonic RX-7200 or RX-5350. They might not go as loud as the Conion C-100, but they sound more accurate and clear IMO.

I would say JVC M90 too, but those are way overpriced.

Yep boom box "badassery" is a good thing.

The Conion C-100 has a very cool look in my books as well.

I hope I don't have to get something off E-bay. Would much prefer to find something on the forum.

I think that M 90 and the lasonic 931 sound better than the conion ,they're just not as loud. I think the bass from the 931 smokes the conion and the m90.

I don't give a s*** what anybody says the 931 is no punk.

So basically I'm adding the lasonic trc-931 and the JVC RC M90 to the list
There's a lot of boxes out there I mean a lot it's hard to pick a few unless you've owned them.
So I can only speak for what I've had my own collection.

I agree with you completely about the 931. The second generation 931 is quite possibly my favorite sounding boomer of all-time.

When I want to be loud and proud I use my Conion C100's. IMO the C100 has more bass than the M90 but the M90 has crisper highs with a smooth warm bass response and unlike most boxes starts getting more serious the higher up in volume you go instead of dropping off like the Conion.

When I want a powerful refined and detailed sound I use my JVC RC-M90.

Aside from that I enjoy the sound from most of the Panasonic brands and if I want to be downright obnoxious I break out the bumpboxx.

So, with a vintage model, if you want the loudest high's and the deepest bass Grab a M90 and a C100 and play them stacked on top of one another like I do :w00t:

My vote is for the Telefunken Studio 1 and 1M.
Built like a brick shithouse and lots of power and 3 way quality speakers. :stereo:
Not super portable though.

m90 no question out of the 3 it's the best build quality and best deck with dolby b/c and logic controls :-)

Ok, good to know. I just added one more too..
or the conion lol but get a fully working one as it's market quality compared to the m90, never had a lasonic but had the rest, lasonic just aint my cup of tea and again market quality but that's just my own opinion

I think it's between these 2 from what I see and hear so far.
Love the look of them both.
The Lasonic's nice but I'm not crazy on the black, and is a tad "Star Trek" TNG on the graphics
The Clartone conion is just a bit too flashy for me.
I like needles over led lights too.

I like them all really but I really like the Sharp 777 and JVC M90

I'm watching reviews right now on all these....

think iv said enough in this thread and it could seem one sided but m90 no question unless you copy tapes, but i do like the 777 as it's silver, i have m90's and they look boring, that's the only thing i have against them lol
