Sharp GF-777 spare parts

Hello from Czech Republic!
I would like to ask you for help with my GF-777. I purchased it about a year ago. It came in worse condition than you can ever imagine. There are missing some parts (cassette compartment doors, one speaker grill, etc.), but there is biggest problem regarding the housing. It was broken inside on every place. All srew columns are completely destroyed and then repaired by somebody stupid, who tried to "weld" the parts together, then he tried to use many types of glue, etc. The result is, that the housing (incl. back cover) is not possible to use. Is there any chance to find a housing in better condition for reasonable price? And some other parts (doors, speaker grill, etc.)?
Any answer will be higly appreciated!
Best regards,
Michal

Replacing the front case of this box is going to be very costly and risky because the new one may be broken during shipping your best bet is to try to rebuild what you have it'll take some work but I've seen worse brought back.

As far as remounting the main speakers if you found some cool looking Allen head bolts you could just drill through the case and run the bolts through the front and then into the speakers through the back and bolt It Off.

You can even upgrade the speakers on the outer woofers by adding coaxials and bypassing the stock tweeters all together.

Yes, it would not be so big problem to drill through the case and place speakers back, but there are all screw columns broken for assembling of PCBS, mechanics and the back cover. I afraid, this will be more difficult to solve… Maybe I'll try to use some glue and plastics to create new ones. The PCB with inputs iin the front of case is split to at least on two parts and glued inside the box, I can not put it away.

Wow that is the worst looking repair I've ever seen
and possibly worst condition 777 I've ever seen too
I have parts for the 909 i agree apart from shipping costs its a dangerous thing to ship
back cover is almost the same but front is all in Japanese I have sent these with no problem
boards all same if i could help give me a PM
but it does look like it could cost more than its worth
shipping is the killer as i am in Japan
but if i could send smaller parts to graft on to the box may work
the broken door hinge is a very difficult fix seems the other door missing cover and the mounting clips broken
anyway i will work with you on this if you want
but really it may be better to find another with other problems and make one good box
BTW does it work ?
cheers

Hi nikonfoo,
thank you very much for your reply! I will post the PM to you. The 777 is very rare in Czech Rep and no parts are available here :bang:
Cheers,
Michal

I have the complete inside electronics for a GF-1000 and the grills, the speakers subs and tweets and both cassette doors.

777 parts I have a cassette door and 2 output boards.

From the looks of it, unfortunately, it may be easier to find one in better condition that needs less work and use that as the parts box.

PM me if I can be of help.

J.

Ok I will help out as I said
I want you to in return to document the restoration here on this thread
as that is what this site is about
This will be the story of stories
Again I recommend you to give up as it will be a lot of work for you and me
But if you have the love to go ahead
I will supply the parts at a members price
as I have talked on PM
This could be the biggest save of all time

Hi all, after a detailed analysis of the situation, I finally decided to give up my 777 in condition as is. You are right, it seems to be easier to buy another one in better condition.
Thanks for all replies and willingness to help!

That's a massive restoration which will feel great to complete but getting there would be a costly and time consuming. Personally I'd find a cosmetically good unit with running issues and get that fixed up with bits from this.

Good luck whichever avenue you choose.

I have 3x 777 enclosures. And ready to sell, also other parts for except decck doors, grills and antennas. Enclosures are not perfect, but much better than this.
