Hi, folks. Anyone here know for sure if a Mabuchi, Matsushita or Sankyo 12V DC motor most often installed in higher-end boomboxes like a JVC RC-M90 or a Sharp GF-777z will also work in a JVC RC-M50JW?

The power supply of an 'M50 operates on roughly 30 watts. Is that enough "oomph" to power such a motor to work at the right playback and recording speeds?

I think that the tape-heads mechanism of models like the JVC RC-M90 and the Sharp GF-777z are mounted in the "floor" of the tape well. Will the counterclockwise rotation (in PLAY mode) of a 12V DC motor more often installed in those "flat top" models work in a "knob top" model like an RC-M50 with its tape-heads parts mounted in the "ceiling" of the tape well?

Well?

I would say just buy a motor that's close to what's in it now , preferred with a speed control that way you can fine tune the speed of the motor.
