HI,

I am a proud owner of a Magnavox D-8300 (Philips D-8304) boombox.
She got a service (cleaning, oiling, belts changed, new power connector to motherboard) and was working. The next day when I wanted to put the house together I tested the power one more time just to be sure and I heard a humming noise and then the power went out.
I am not quite sure what happened, nothing smelled burned, the cable is not broken or bend, there are no lose connections.
What could cause a sudden power loss?
I would appreciate any input (FWY I am a novice when it comes to electricity and any soldering work is done at a shop that I trust, the shop does computers but they just follow whatever instructions I provide them).
Thank you!

Maybe they screwed something up that allowed it to happen, or a part finally died. Hard to say without opening it up and diagnosing it a little bit.
