I recently acquired a thing of beauty and thought i d share.
A very heavy and maybe a rare National Panasonic RS-4150 FD which was
being introduced to the world for the first time back in 1979.
I really love its late 70s appearance and the chromed
deck knobs and switches but most of all i love the Speaker layout,
which reminds me of plateaus that Technics turntables had and
made in the same era
and most notably the well established one the SL-1200 MKII.
Technics as most know was a subdivision on the HI-END spectrum of Panasonic.
Many National Panasonic boomboxes had a similar layout but this one imo
just looks so beautiful. :-) It has a mic mount a detail which i love too !!

There is also a blacked out model the National RS 4150 LJ
which is the same box .
There is one being sold on ebay right now for those who want to have a look
here is a link -------->

Both are the little brothers of the heavy hitter of the RS series which has
2 mic mounts and more features ( plus it is in my wantlist )
and was released a year before ,1978.
The National Panasonic RS-4250 the strapped one !

In Japan the Models are STEREO MAC ST-3 and MAC ST-5.

Wow, congrats! I love that box, it looks like a lowrider with nice rims

Did you find it in Greece, or get it shipped?

It looks really cool in this version. I have seen only black version before.

I wonder these are middle eastern versions. Many Matsushita models of this era have this color and that chrome inlaid speaker grills.
And they are branded as National Panasonic, not National or Panasonic alone, which was the way people in this region adores this brand.

Can you confirm, whether it is multi-voltage?
The reason for them having multi-voltage is that the middle eastern countries have different mains voltages and second, the expat population (from almost any country around the world) there after discovery of oil. All expats (workers and officers alike!) in the 80's used to carry at least one boombox with them when they go home on vacation every year. So for the manufactures it was easy to sell multi-voltage units in this region so that anybody can buy and carry it to any country.
When I say, expat population, you must realize that some oil rich countries have more than 70% expat population, working there.

Here is a link to my old posting about my MAC-5, which I consider as one of the best looking and unique boomboxes ever designed.

Not just the Middle East but Far East and Australasia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Philippines etc all had the full National Panasonic brand in the late 70s early 80s. I remember when I was a kid 8-9 years old and we were expats living in Papua New Guinea 79-81, that chrome heavy styling was on lots of Panny’s in those days. RX-5030 FA comes to mind.

Thanks, mate! Yep, I saw this movie back in the day when I was a kid. :)
It's called "TASS is Authorized to Announce.." 1984, was very popular.

BTW, that's one of the reasons why this box is popular among the collectors here in Russia,
apart from its great looks of course.
The only issue is to try find the version with FM.

Recently i managed to also get the black version of the 4150. The black one which is a rare colour for a Panasonic doesnt have tweeters. I still cant believe how well made are those late 70s machines. I wanted to share a pic with the champagne coloured one and show it to you people just for the the shake of beautiness:-) Hope you like it.
