Hi dear members and followers,

the Mops has a little prob with his CSC 950l stereo decoder i think.

When i hear radio, the stereo light bulb and the stereodecoder works not correct. :-/

I have to turn the capacitor forward and backward several times before the stereo reciever works and the

light bulb works and the stereosound too......when im searching for a different radio station, then the stereosound doesnt works

again. Only when i try it several times, then sometimes the stereosound and the light buld works. But only one time.

Up to the next change of a radio station.....

Without the needed knowledge i can nothing made or adjust the decoder by myself. If its possible.

Im not a specialist. Not in electronics

....But im sure here are more than 2 knowned members with this special knowledge about it......

You could try disassembling the stereo potentiometer, cleaning it, and re-assembling it

If that fails, then I believe the only other option is to replace the decoder chip.

Any idea where i can find the stereo potentiometer? Never heard about it before :sadno:

On the mainboard somewhere? How i can identify it? Is there a little noun with the describtion maybee?

And if, what i have to do? Clean it only up and then? Try and error adjustment? So many questions....

It is VR1 on the tuner board. It is meant to be tested with a signal generator and frequency counter to get 19kHz, but if you do not have that equipment, you can simply try rotating it to get the stereo light back on. It might need to be cleaned too.

Have you also cleaned the stereo mode switch on the control board?

OH with capacitor i mean the plate capacitor for the frequenzy.....im sure you know what i mean......

or easier: the tuner

I will check it out and then i will try out all your recomments....Im sure its a little thing ( the Mops hope it :hmmm:)

And then i will give a feedback, for the first time i have to say: THX for your quick response

I would first clean the Function and Stereo/Mono switches on top of the boombox. Then if the stereo light still malfunctions, rotate the VR1 pot like I suggested, until the stereo light stays on with a strong station. If it is corroded, it may need to be cleaned. If that doesn't work, maybe the decoder chip is bad.
