A funny thing..Boombox & Mason bee's

Yes, I did say Mason bee's..
For the last 2 years I have had my cheaper boxes outside for the Spring/Summer/fall times on my back deck. I have placed painters (blue tape) over every screw hole that was in the back-side. But they just eat they're way through, and had lay eggs for over-wintering. The boxes go in my office for the Winter mind-you to be stored. Just a week ago my room-mate stepped on one of these Mason bee's in the office area! Ouch! AN early hatch (too warm) so I had to put the box, a (Realistic model) back outside to calm these bee's from hatching out early! NOT good for these speakers. What to do? NO tunes outside, bring it in every night? Not conventient!
Just Watch OUT for this in the back of your tune-box!!!

Not an issue here in the UK. If you left them outside for any length of time they’d be rusted to feck and ruined lol

Geeze man, never heard of this problem. But yeah, doing leave them out side over night I would guess

**** that , I would use a shitty box to lure the basterds in then nuke their asses with a 12 guage shotgun. Sounds like those bees could provide hours of enjoyment.

Hmm, are they the same as our mason bees in New Zealand?
Here they make little individual mud nests grouped together with a (what I'm presuming) paralysed but alive spider in each nest for its larvae to feast on while growing.
I have had quite a few screw holes filled with them. Virtually impossible to get out apart from straight in.
They make their nests anywhere there's a small gap. Behind pictures, brick gaps, corners but worst of all, the folds of curtains

So... I remember something about bees being most attracted to the color blue. Not sure how much truth there is to that, but maybe try a different color tape first.

Otherwise maybe there's some like rubber plugs with a head you could buy that would fit in the hole? Like they use to cover screw holes on some devices.

Yes sounds like the same type of bee here, I had not put ANY tape over the screw holes until I had discovered this going on! Yes these lay a single egg, put a bug inside for larvae to eat on and mud over the hole, chew they're way out once hatched in Spring.
I love my "deck tunes" but roommate say out side it goes! This a beater Realistic smaller unit and has spent many years outdoors anyhow. I'm suprised speaker cushions aern't rotted by now. Its now my "MASON BEE BOX! I hope they like it loud!!!

Just crush with churn with screwdriver and churn and empty outside,really nothing to it!! Crush them worthless mudfilling bees!!!😎
