Hey there guys and gals, I recently purchased this cool little JVC M50 from Boomboxery member James (Katsa). All is working, but it needed some cleaning and some TLC.

If you look closely you can see the dust build up inside the grills

So I took it all apart and started scrubbing, cleaning, waxing and polishing out scuffs, and polished out all the chrome and the knobs to a nice shine.

James was so kind to provide me with some replacement parts, like speaker grills (which I repainted), a better tuner window that I polished out with PlastX, and a top aluminum trim that was in better shape than the original.

Here's the rusted and dirty original grills

Both speakers cleaned and lightly waxed with "Wizards wax"

After removing the scuffs and scratches from the new tuner window and cassette door window, I contacted Eric (caution) and Norm (Superduper) and asked them for a chrome tuner trim piece for the M90, which fit perfectly on the M50. I just had to trim the length by about an inch. Came out sweet.

And there you have it folks, another clean up

This video was taken before the replacement chrome strip was applied, but here it is with the tape deck in full effect

Big thanks to James for this box, and to Eric and Norm for always coming through with the little extras that make a big difference! Here's my M90 with his little brother M50. Cheers!

Man... You don't muck around. Looks sweet as!
What part of the speaker did you use the wizards wax for?
Thanks bro, the woofers have some type of protective coating, just like the M90. So I applied a little wax to the woofer cones and the chrome dust caps :-)

Damn she looks sweet, like a mini M90. These are great looking boxes, how's the sound? I have never seen or heard one in person.

Clean up went really well man she's gleaming.

Thanks Tre much appreciated bro, actually its got that great JVC sound one would expect, and I love the Biphonic mode on all of these boxes. Its a nice size for the "grab n go" category. Not too big and not too small ;-) She's a keeper

Fantastic clean up. Your attention to detail is at the very top. I have never heard one of these in person. It really does look like the little brother of the M90!

Nice work bro

I used 50 Woofers for my M80 RGB MOD. They sound way better overall than the stock ones for the M80.
Wow thats a good idea, I sold my M80 a while back, it sounded nice but never really thought of swapping the speakers out. Too late
