I think maybe we need a new forum category for Bluetooth speakers. Devices like this, diamondboxx, etc can then have a place to properly reside, as I still consider them Bluetooth speakers & not Boomboxes. In fact, at my local NFM dept store, there are sections labeled “Boomboxes”, “component systems” AND “Bluetooth speakers”, so even the dept store recognizes that they are different and organizes displays & markets them in different areas.

It looks boring and no thought put into the design of it.....just a square box with speakers, I could make something much better looking!
The other version not so bad and it does sound good

+1 vote for Bluetooth speaker category.

I totally agree Norm. I could even let it slide as a boombox if it even had a simple fm tuner. But just Bluetooth, no.

Back in the day, we used to call them ‘radio cassettes’, not boomboxes. :-)

Now everything is called a Boombox - Barbie eggs, single speaker mono pocket sizes boxes. I even saw a Walkman called a Boombox on an EBay listing.

I wouldn’t bother getting too hung up on what’s the true definition of a Boombox to the modern world and it’s inhabitants. :-)

The Diamondboxx is not Boombox at all because it has no tuner. The Bumpboxx has a single FM chip design which is a step in the right direction but (at least for their earlier models) they mostly fit in the Bluetooth category. Mainly because instead of being able to listen to Q104.3 stationed out of New York, you are only able to pick up STAT-IC stationed out of Nowhere. Maybe this is better on the latter models?

They both do have their place in the market and so I feel (as mentioned before) that a special Bluetooth section is where they would be more at home.

Thats a fair point Jimmy. I guess on this site it really doesn't fit in with what many, maybe not all, consider a "boombox."

Yet maybe to the general public it still very well may be.
