GF 9696 take up reel issue.....

I've replaced the idler ring, the pinch roller contacts with the capstan, the idler wheel contacts with the takeup hub but it just won't move. Deck has functional replaced belts, whats is the issue? The deck ffwds and rwds fine, auto stop mechanism will stop the player after about 5 seconds.

I think I figured it out. That sleeve on the capstan....

Yup you got it, the capstan tyre will be turned to mush. Gotta clean out the old gunk from the little housing and replace it with a new piece. I use RC fuel line.
