They have started breeding...

Lol picked up the 2 9090's either side of the 9191 I found for just £55 notes including the p&p.

Am restoring one fully and the other will most likely end up as a hack for my little girl (she loves the 80's look blasters).

As I'm waiting on some coin to get the 9191 fixed up this would be something nice to fill the gap.

Yeah man they're awesome! And would not believe the one that looks super best up with no cassette door actually PLAYS TAPES! I mean really, iv been listening to one for about 2 hours now no problem.
Was a little sticky at 1st, it's a shame the casing is so scratched on it because the tuner dial plexiglass is really tidy and the other looks like someone's been smoking 40 a day inside for the last 40 odd years.

It was super grubby, dry on the top like dust but sticky underneath errrrr.

Going to get both cleaned then compile all the best parts for my restore project then whatever's left is mine to play with.

Rh speaker on this was bashed in pretty good (bust off 3 out of 4 screw posts) but luckily they were all inside (a miracle considering it has no battery cover or cassette door)

Oh I'm gonna make some thing of it!

I'm thinking of installing an iPhone or the likes in the cassette door (custom made) and hard wiring It in to the din in wold be cool I think plus LED's! The possibilities...

So now all parts are clean I have selected the best bits (function wise) as the worst (aesthetically) to build my daughters box as I want it to fully work as it should but I'll be repainting it for her (probably pink knowing her) I'll do my best to convince her otherwise though, I'm giving her the front casing without the yellow tuner dial window.
Perhaps I can restore/ replace with new stuff.

Thanks! Pictures soon, maybe tomorrow. I need to get moving with stuff any way have a 9191 to repair 2 9090's to build up, my 8190 hitachi arrived today and the 8290 is in the post.

The boombox's are taking over the kitchen! To the boom cupboard I say!

So amazed to get round to actually doing one of the 9090's over Xmas, it was hard work but fun I did have a few problems along the way but I'm fairly happy with the result. Still need to acrylic the speakers though will do that when I get a nice brush.

The only issue with the function so far is sometimes the LH VU meter goes rouge bouncing all over the place but settles down after a few seconds.

Enjoy.
